The culture of the Rio Grande Valley is distinct because represents the fusion of two cultures, the Mexican and the
American. There are ideas, customs, and cuisine from both cultures have blended to form our unique Valley heritage. It is
not only a Valley by geographical definition but by cultural definition as well.
It is quite difficult to determine the official language of the Rio Grande Valley. It seems that because of this cultural
fusion, English and Spanish have resulted in diverse expressions, Spanglish among English speakers and Pocho among Spanish
speakers.
The Rio Grande Valley is a great place to live because of its diversity. It is blessed with many communities, where
diversity and beauty walk hand in hand with culture and history.
